How Hypnotherapy Can Help You
There are many different methods to Stop Smoking, however not all of these address the three main components that can make quitting so difficult.
These three are Physical, Mental and Social. If you don’t address these issues, then failure to Quit Smoking, or the chances of relapse are significantly higher. Of course the same goes for Quitting Alcohol or reducing Alcohol Intake.
Cigarettes contain an addictive chemical called nicotine, that when inhaled causes the release of feel good chemicals in the brain. Unfortunately, after the this short term high wears off the smoker begins to crave another cigarette. Smokers also build up a tolerance and physical dependence on nicotine, meaning they must smoke more to feel the same effect. During Hypnotherapy, we replace nicotine with other techniques to enable you to feel good without the need for the drug. This enables you to Stop Smoking in a more relaxed way.
The act of smoking is often part of a daily routine. Smokers tend to light up at specific times of day—when drinking coffee or driving—or when they’re feeling a certain way, like stressed or tired. Cigarettes can become a crutch, almost like a steady friend you can rely on. Stay on track with your quit by identifying these moments and triggers, and relearning or adjusting behaviours to stay strong during a craving. Many smokers develop social groups around smoking - people will head out for a smoke break with friends or co-workers. Smoking can also be used as a social icebreaker by asking, “Got a light?” In that same vein, getting help that supports a quit smoking attempt can be helpful.
